What is Indonesian Arts Festival (IAF)

IAF (Indonesian Art Festival) is a biannual arts and cultural events that plays a role as a bridge to introduce Indonesian talents and cultural experiences to Singapore community. Indonesian Art Festival delivers art experiences under the theme of UNITY. The theme practically represents Indonesian national motto "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" that means Unity in Diversity. Along with the well known history of Mahabarata that is presented through Indonesian traditional culture 'Wayang', Indonesian Art festival will be presented with the encouragement of  the grand story of Mahabarata itself.
Indonesian Art Festival opens with an open mic session in which a platform will be provided for the Indonesian talents in Singapore as it is to delivers a new arrangement and interpretation of traditional songs and dance followed with a mini Film Festival. The Film Festival will screen both commercial and independent films assembled by Indonesian filmmakers. Invitation will be given out to Indonesian directors
and actors for the talk back session right after the screenings. The highlight of Indonesian Art Festival is a semi musical theatrical production titled "Maha Brata". New Talents and  professionals will have the opportunity to collaborate in a grand combination of traditional and contemporary art experiences. Well known Indonesian musicians and public figures will be invited to crowd into this event. The performance of Wayang Kulit will be the closing of the event.
The aim of Indonesian Art Festival is to raise the public awareness about the uniqueness of Indonesian culture and to deliver the message of how Indonesian citizen in Singapore could go together hand in hand with the Singaporeans. The objectives of Indonesian Art Festival are to provide the opportunity for Indonesian students in Singapore to collaborate with Singaporeans through the making of this festival, as well as to promote a deeper understanding and appreciation towards Indonesian culture, to provide a platform for Indonesian talents to delivers their art experience and to raise the fund to help NDI project.
The funds raised through the Festival will be donated to Nusantara Development Initiative Project (NDI). NDI is a student based voluntary project with the vision and mision to help and rebuild the tsunami affected areas in Naggroe Aceh Darussalam.
